When it comes to how we do things online, TourismSolved’s social media coordinator Anika Sands is probably ahead of most people. Anika is a recent graduate of University of Arizona with a degree in Information and e-Society, which means she is up on the latest when it comes to social media strategies, information security, and e-commerce, among other topics. “It has allowed me to learn and teach to others the quickly changing digital world,” Anika mentions.
At TourismSolved, Anika is ready to connect and share what we are up to in the larger travel space. “[My role] allows me to have many different jobs inside the company. I make sure that all of our social channels, (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram) are staying current with articles, photos and relevant information about what’s happening in Tourism Solved and the travel industry. I also work on brand management, influencer management and analytics for our sales team.”
When she’s not at home in Seattle, you might find her in one of her two favorite American cities: Miami and New York City. One of her favorite recent travel memories is taking a cruise around the Statue of Liberty on the Hudson River.
What is it about working in the travel industry that you love the most?
It is exciting to work with people from all over the world. Things are always changing, and I love traveling, so it’s really interesting to hear perspectives from people at the company and beyond.
What motivates you to stay in the travel industry?
I love being part of a company that aims to help tour operators drive direct bookings to a larger audience, as well as help operators navigate bringing their business online in user-friendly ways. Things are quickly switching to digital, especially throughout Covid-19.
How do you see travel changing over time? What’s exciting about these potential changes?
The biggest change I see in travel is the way people find their next destination. Everyday there is more and more travel booked directly online, and many of us find our inspiration on Instagram, among other online companies. It’s exciting because while this has been happening for some time, now more than ever people are going to rely on the digital space to find and connect with one another.
What are the top 3 things that every tour operator can do to make their experience more enjoyable for travelers?
1. Make travelers experience personable

What’s something surprising people might not know about you?
I am part of the graduating class of 2020, otherwise known as the “COVID Class”. Because of this, it has been an extremely interesting experience navigating through the work force and figuring out what my next plans in life will be!
